The two-alarm fire broke out at Village Square Plaza located at 5201 Spring Road shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, according to emergency dispatch.

A forklift to the rear of the structure supposedly caught fire which spread and quickly cover approximately 75 feet of the building— going through the roof, authorities explained in first responder radio broadcasts and people at the scene told Daily Voice.

We have heard it "extended to adjoining structures" but have not been able to officially confirm that.

No injuries were reported, Perry County Emergency Management Agency Director Richard T. Fultz told Daily Voice, who added that the businesses in the mall were evacuated.

Multiple fire crews from Dauphin, Perry, and Cumberland counties were called to the scene, according to emergency radio broadcasts.

There is no word as to what caused the fire, according to Fultz.
